The Contemporary World

An examination of the issues within the contemporary global world, specifically highlighting the post World War II period, from the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan in August 1945, to the high-tech, evolving world of today.

Design Thinking

An understanding of the problem-solving process and method of innovation, design thinking, and applying it to a variety of of complex problems, while also executing the design thinking theory with a real-life project.

Dangerous Minds: Understanding Terrorism

Examining the individuals and violent acts of terrorists and religious extremists, while also analyzing the cultural, political, and economic conditions that encourage violence and terrorism.

Global Arts

My exploration of my personal thinking/sensing/feeling towards the artistic expressions of various cultures around the world. Global arts includes discovering the hearts of the cultures of Mexico, Africa, and Ireland and attempting to understand the themes of common world views.

Global & Intercultural Engagement

Taking a look at my own cultural perspectives surrounding various global issues, and exploring the point of views and values of people from multiple cultures. Developing an empathetic connection to understand individuals across cultures.

Understanding Data

A critical analysis of the significance in being able to interpret and understand the data that is generated in today's world. Incorporating the ability to identify and evaluate data and to test hypotheses in an effort to make decisions and solve problems.

Age of Revolutions

An exploration of the revolutions that have taken place throughout the last 600 years in the Western world. Discovering the role of ideas and traditions from the revolutions, and how they have helped shape the modern age.

The Global Economy

Developing an understanding surrounding the importance of today's U.S. economy and the world economy, and recognizing how "globalization" has impacted the world where people and ideas flow freely.

Dignity, Identity, & Power 

An exploration of the roles of humiliation, dignity, and the "politics of resentment" in history and in our time.

The Reel World

An analyzation of the contemporary global issues in the post-World War II period through film. Examining reviews and critiques that interpret how history is being represented in U.S. and foreign films.

Contemporary Media Literacies

Reflection of what exactly it means to be literate in our diverse and ever-evolving world. Analyzing how traditional print-based media has expanded to more contemporary modern literacy methods. Ultimately then utilizing contemporary media literacies while researching real-world problems.
